Vulva-vagina care is self care

Welcome to a new month, Gorgeous. May this month be good to you and your family.

We are starting this month with a bang. Updating/Refreshing our knowledge of vaginal health.

Everyone wants to keep it clean down there, to avoid infection and odour. For people with active sexual partners, you also want to keep it fresh so that your partner can have a great time should they decide to eat 😉 .

Well, vulva-vagina health is simple. Every gynaecologist that I have spoken to about this has said the same thing. They agree with written research that the vaginal is self-cleaning. However, the vulva needs cleaning. But even that is simple;

Use warm water or mild soap to clean regularly.

Wipe from front to back to avoid pushing bacteria into your vagina.

Wear cotton or breathable underwear that will not retain moisture.

Change your underwear as regularly as possible.

Change your pads as often as possible when you are on your period. If you are not on your period, avoid the use of pads and panty-liners.

Use water based lubricant during sex

Get vaccinated against Human Papilloma Virus (HPV). Both myself and my husband got this before we got married.

Please get up and urinate after sex to flush any bacteria deposit. And clean yourself.

Use your hands instead of a washcloth or sponge.

Eat a balanced diet. Cut down on sugar and carbohydrate food as they can lead to yeast infection.

Consult your gynae before you do any piercing down there or use vaginal wash/products.

As for shaving, that is based on your preference. As long as you continue to keep it clean, it's fine.

Keep a generally neat environment. If you do not pay much attention to maintaining good personal hygiene, you will also neglect your vulva-vagina.

As someone describes, the vulva-vagina is not a flower, but it has its own scent. However when you keep it clean always, you can ensure that it smells absolutely beautiful. When you feel clean, you boost your confidence. And well, your partner is forever in for a treat.
