Raising a genius

One question that we continue to ask the mums that we feature on #umispotlight is, “what are your fears as a parent?” and a lot of the time the response we get is about what the kids will end up becoming in the future. I don’t think this constant worry about the future of our kids is exclusive to those mums. I imagine all parents can relate to this quest in some way.

As a girl mum, I have so many things that I hope the experience and the life of my child will be in this world. A lot of my hopes are channelled into daily affirmations for her. Because I would rather confess the goodness that I want to see than be crippled by my fears. And I implore you to do the same.

Aside from the daily affirmations and prayers, is the need to be intentional about the things that they are exposed to. So that everything around them in your home, at their school and their environment contribute to stimulate their creativity and nurture their God giving talent.

Your kid might be born a genius but if you do not nurture that gift in him or her, it will become dormant.

So, how do we raise a genius?
