Preparing your kid for the arrival of a sibling

Recently, I was at a gathering of some amazing moms and one of the experienced mothers there shared a story of how the arrival of their second baby brought about some feelings and attitude from their first child. She talked about how the baby who was already potty trained began to poop on himself right on the day the new baby was to be christened. And that got me thinking of what to do to prepare the first child for the arrival of a sibling.
I mean they’ve been hogging all the attention to themselves all these while and I would imagine that they would want that attention to continue (at least until they are old enough to have a life outside of the home). All the baby things, toys and food have also been theirs for as long as they have known. So, it is normal for them to have some form of feelings either consciously or not, about the arrival of someone who they think is coming to take their place.
Preparing your child for the arrival of a sibling depends on their age. However, there are a few tips that appears to cut across all age groups;
