Back to School Essentials
For your toddlers
It’s been so good having the kids to ourselves this summer. If your home is anything like mine, this holiday was filled with lots of love, laughter, joy, screams, messes and somehow, the consumption of food also increased.
I am grateful for all the time that I got to spend with my sweet girl. We also love visiting our friends and having some family members over. However, now we are happy to have our girl back in school. She is starting pre-school and I am elated. We are getting into that back to school shopping groove.
For parents of toddlers who are also going to school this September, here are few things to put in order for your kids;
Get their vaccination up to date. Let your kids get all the shots that they should have. Remember that they are going to be coming in contact with kids from everywhere in school. So, you want them to be protected against infections and whatever germs are floating around.
Put some sanitizers, wipes and tissue in your kid’s bag. And let their handlers and teachers know about it.
Please, get the water bottle that has a flap to cover the straw. That will protect them from dust and dirt.
Make sure to get the lunch box with thermos. That way, your kid’s food is hot for as long as you want it to be.
Along with writing materials (books, pencils etc.), get some coloring materials to keep your kids busy when they get home.
Ensure you get clothes that are appropriate for them this season. This might also be a good time to update your children’s wardrobe with a few more clothes changes.
You should also get some sticky notes/post it notes. Those are for you to write some words of affirmation on your kid’s lunch box. You could also write those words of affirmation in their playroom or by their beds and declare that over them in the morning and before they go to bed.
Make plans for some healthy food this session. Start with the fruits that are in season for them. And deal with the others as they come.
Whatever you do, we do appreciate you investing some time to making sure your children get what they need to have a good experience in school. You, Mamas are the real deal.
What else is missing from this list? What do you think is important that we haven’t mentioned?
