A little Reminder

For black maternal health week

It's black maternal health week, Lovelies. What better time to remind you of how precious you are than now.

The maternal mortality rate in Africa is still high. Lot of mothers, especially those in rural communities have died from complications during childbirth. Lots of mothers still do not take antenatal and post natal care seriously. And some communities still do not have access to good health care.

Gorgeous people, you are the one who will serve as mothers to your children. No one else can do it as effectively as you will. We need you alive and in good health. It is one of the reasons I keep writing to you every week.

Take your health seriously. You do not have to wait until you are knocked out before you check yourself.

Eat healthy meals.

Exercise regularly. Start small and then go from there.

If you do not have access to a good health care plan or cannot afford it, take advantage of free medical check up/outreach.

You are not a super woman. Rest. Please do. Things will be fine.

Advocate for your healthcare. This is very important. If you visit a medical facility and you see that they aren't taken you seriously, find a way for them to hear you. Or go to another hospital where they will. Do not suffer in silence. Many mothers have lost their lives because their complaints weren't taken seriously.

Please do not suffer in silence.

Let your partner also advocate for you when you cannot.

Get a first aid kit and learn how to use it.

Beware of pregnant people around you and help out if you can.

Africa need you alive to raise your kids. The world need you alive to raise your kids. You deserve to see your seeds grow and flourish. There is no weakness in making sure your health is priority.

None. It's black maternal health week, Lovelies. What better time to remind you of how precious you are than now.
